First: Day 0 Next: Day 2

The first full day in Iceland was fairly peaceful - I’d planned to have a rest day after all the travel and take stock of the surroundings a bit before getting into Fanfest proper. The first order of the day was checking various forums to see what was going on in the wider world of EVE - a rival alliance had been invading some of our space recently and there was an important battle coming up.

After moving some ships to a slightly safer location, it was time for breakfast. I gratefully munched up an assortment of various cold cuts, bread rolls and pastries before heading out to Harpa to register and pick up my tickets.

This time, the weather was a bit less idyllic than the previous day - Iceland was starting to assert itself again with a rather bracing wind. After a light lunch at a ‘Te & Kaffi,’ the local equivalent of Starbucks, I headed down to another attendee’s apartment and met up with a few more friends from the alliance, and a few ex-players. One of the stranger parts of Fanfest is that there are significant number of people here who don’t actually play the game -- both ex-players and people related to the game. The chance of meeting old friends is enough to get people together, such is the relationships that develop within the game.

Dinner was had at the Lebowski bar - high-quality classic fare such as a very good cheeseburger and fries. Hot burgers slowly turned into cold beers as more friends arrived. We headed to the Celtic Cross as our next destination, where we met a couple of the devs and chatted for a while before heading home -- stopping only to pick up another hot dog from the (now quite popular) hotdog stand.
